Conservation joinery is not simply old-fashioned carpentry. It requires measured decisions about significance, condition, repairability and compatibility. Premier Joiners undertakes sensitive timber work for historic and listed properties throughout Stirling and across Scotland.
A repair-first mindset
Our starting point is to understand the existing element before removing it. Sound historic fabric is retained wherever feasible, failed sections are repaired with compatible timber and replacement is reserved for components that cannot reasonably be conserved.
Compatible details and materials
Profiles, joints, grain orientation, moisture movement, ventilation and finishes all influence how long a repair will last and how comfortably it will sit within an old building. We pay attention to these less visible details as well as the final appearance.
Working as part of a conservation team
Complex projects may require an architect, structural engineer, surveyor or conservation-accredited professional. We are comfortable working from specifications and drawings, documenting the work and coordinating related trades through our construction project management service.
